BWCMF 2016
Description
This August, FPW Media headed to the Willamette Country Music Festival to film a co-branded music video with up and coming country artist, Ben Rue, and Papé. Ben Rue grew up in Silverton, Oregon with his three older brothers on their 2000-acre grass seed farm. Rue started driving a combine at the age of 11 and found himself creating his own music as he worked. Music has always been his outlet for expressing his emotions, feelings and passions. He uses this passion and love for music to create songs with meaning that influences people on a deeper level. Rue is a natural performer and enjoys “being a part of something that people love to come to, and I love that I get to be apart of that time where they can just break away from life for a couple hours” .
When creating the video for Papé, we wanted to produce something that captured this break away from life that was organic to the festival without feeling like an advertisement. We gathered an energetic crowd to dance and cheer on the country artist as we captured him driving a Gator and playing “I’m America” on the main stage. We shot most of the footage on site of CMF, some was shot during our shoot for Papé Machinery, Agriculture, and Turf in Bend, Oregon. However, all the motion and stills perfectly depict the authentic energy of the weekend while also promoting Papé and the festival.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, FPW spent some time in Papé Town, a large section of the campground where employees and family can hangout. We captured breakfast catered by Hole in the Wall while Ben Rue played on Saturday and Stephanie Lansdon played on Sunday as entertainment for everyone. We also visited the Papé hospitality area, an area very close to the main stage, and photographed the meet and greet with Cadillac 3 for those who wanted to meet them. We included all this footage in the final project.
All the editing was done on site in just two days. It was a quick process but our team and the cooperation from everyone made it possible. The final video was displayed on the jumbotrons prior to the headliners on Saturday and Sunday night of the festival. The finished project displays Papé through an uncommon music video platform and successfully captures the energy and music of the festival. Clients
